Retreat programme - autumn 2010

Each one-day retreat will be a day of sustained meditation, supported by an atmosphere of silence. All the retreats are suitable for beginners as well as those with experience of meditation practice. Guidance will be given, and there will be a talk as well as the opportunity to ask questions. Videos of previous talks can be found on the news page.

Timings

Registration for retreats is between 9.15 and 9.45am and the retreat will end by 5pm. There will be a break for lunch (we remain in silence) in the middle of the day. Please see the what to bring page for information on bringing lunch to share.

Venue

All autumn retreats will be held at Headington Parish Hall, Old Headington, Oxford.

Saturday 4 September 2010 - Rob Burbea

Rob Burbea has been practising and studying Buddhist meditation and Dharma since 1985 with a variety of teachers in England and in the USA. He has been teaching since 2004 and is currently Resident Teacher of Gaia House and also a member of the Teacher Council. He is a co-founder of SanghaSeva, an organisation dedicated to exploring the Dharma through service work internationally.

Saturday 9 October 2010 - Bhante Bodhidhamma

Bhante Bodhidhamma started training in Soto Zen in 1977, then in the Mahasi Theravada Tradition with Sayadaws U Rewata Dhamma, U Janaka and U Pandita. In 1986 he ordained, subsequently spending eight years practising in Sri Lanka. He has been teaching in Europe and the USA since 1998. From 2001 to 2005, he was the Resident Teacher at Gaia House. He founded Satipanya Buddhist Retreat in Wales.

Saturday 13 November 2010 - Simon Child

Simon Child is a medical doctor who has trained for over 25 years with Dr John Crook and Chan Master Sheng-yen. He has been a Dharma heir of Chan Master Sheng-yen since 2000. He is secretary of the Western Chan Fellowship. and leads retreats at their retreat centre in Wales, and also in Europe and the USA.
